Nicki Makes Up With Taylor at VMAs… But Escalates Beef With Miley

Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have truly let bygones be bygones, but things are not looking so good for Nicki’s relationship with Miley Cyrus.

After a brief Twitter spat in July following Minaj’s perceived snub in the MTV Video Music Awards Video of the Year category, Swift and Minaj made amends Sunday during their show-opening performance at the VMAs.

When Minaj performed her song “The Night Is Still Young,” Swift made a surprise appearance. When they came face-to-face, they gave each other playful dirty looks before segueing into a nod-and-wink snippet of Taylor’s “Bad Blood.”

But the lovey-dovey mood was shattered minutes later, when Minaj accepted the Best Hip-Hop Video award for “Anaconda.” Minaj wrapped her speech by dissing VMAs host Miley Cyrus, saying angrily, “Back to this bitch that had a lot of say about me the other day in the press. Miley Cyrus, what’s good?” Minaj’s microphone was cut off before she could say anything more.

Minaj was referring to a New York Times interview earlier in the week, when Cyrus criticized the way Minaj had addressed her issues with the VMAs and Taylor Swift, saying: “What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj, is not too kind.” She went on to suggest that Minaj should have handled the situation differently.

Cyrus appeared defensive and even downright shaken by the unscripted moment, when Minaj called her out onstage Sunday at the VMAs. She replied, “We’re all in this industry. We all do interviews. We all know how they manipulate s—. Nicki, congratulations.” Awkward silence ensued as Minaj mouthed the B-word to Cyrus again.

Minaj addressed the heated exchange on Twitter later, in her own “very Nicki Minaj” way:
