Nicki Minaj had a busy night at the 2023 VMAs between hosting, winning awards, and performing multiple times. The 40-year-old rapper gave fans a taste of what they can expect on her forthcoming November album Pink Friday 2 when she delivered an unreleased record during her individual performance.

The Queens rapper took the stage in Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center on Tuesday (Sept. 12) and performed her latest single “Last Time I Saw You” for the first time to a live audience. After finishing that song, she said, “It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t give y’all a Pink Friday 2 exclusive” before transitioning into a bass-heavy track loaded with bars.

“I like my hundreds blue/ Bad bi**hes, yeah, I keep ’em by the two/ It’s a big difference between me and you/ I ain’t nothing like you, you, you or you,” Minaj rapped with fervor. “I’m on a whole ‘nother level, these bi**hes is out of they league/ These bi**hes ain’t battin’ like me, these bi**hes ain’t better than me.”

Many internet users believed that she was throwing subliminals at other women rappers, which wouldn’t be uncommon for Nicki, but regardless, the song built up excitement for her upcoming LP based on the crowd response. Pink Friday 2 is set to release on Nov. 17. Check out the performance below.

Nicki Minaj returned to the stage later on for the Hip-Hop 50 Tribute, joining Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, LL Cool J, Run-D.M.C., and Lil Wayne for a jam-packed melody of classic records.

She was also able to celebrate herself as she won the Best Hip-Hop Video award for “Super Freaky Girl,” her record fifth time winning an award in that category. “You guys, thank you so much,” the mother of one said. “You know what? So often I joke around and play around and stuff, but tonight, I don’t know why, but this morning when I woke up, I had this really strong sense of gratitude. And that’s the truth. So I just want to say I thank you guys, the people who go out and support, the people who never skip a beat on the internet holding us down, the people who are at the tours.” She ended her victory speech thanking MTV for giving rap that platform and giving her that recognition.

In true Nicki Minaj fashion, she couldn’t leave the stage without giving the people a viral moment. She asked the crowd if she should be mean or nice, and after the majority chose the “mean” response, she said, “It’s Barbie, bi**h!” with a snarl. Check out her speech below.
