Nickelodeon renews 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' for a fourth season
With a big summer movie on the horizon, it’s easy to see why Nickelodeon wants more turtle power on the small screen.
The network announced this week that it has renewed its CG-animated take on the franchise for a 20-episode fourth season, slated to release in fall 2015. The network has also announced that Seth Green (Robot Chicken) will replace Jason Biggs (Orange Is the New Black) in the role of Leonardo, the levelheaded leader of the crime-fighting team.
Nickelodeon’s take on the heroes in a half shell premiered September 2012. The show is currently wrapping its second season, which will end later this summer. Green joins a cast of voice actors that includes Sean Astin (Raphael), Rob Paulsen (Donatello), Greg Cipes (Michelangelo), and Mae Whitman (April O’Neil).
The separate, Paramount-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, directed by Jonathan Liebesman and starring Megan Fox and Will Arnett, will open August 8. Here’s hoping there’s enough pizza to go around.
