When Nick Viall was preparing to attend Coachella this year, he realized he'd be bringing someone new along for the ride — his 10-week-old daughter River Rose.

The Viall Files podcast host, 43, who spoke with PEOPLE at the Gallery Desert House presented by PATRÓN EL ALTO in Indio, Calif., on Sunday, April 14, was able to travel to Coachella this year with his family of three, noting that "it was good for us to get out."

"We've been nesting for so long in preparation for our daughter River, and it's been so great just spending every night with her, and we're so lucky to have Natalie's mom in town to help us," Viall said of himself and his fiancée Natalie Joy. "It's really just been a magical weekend, and it was fun to kind of top it off by recording our [podcast] episode out here at the party house with Patrón."

"We brought the whole household, the whole staff is here," he added. "So, we made it like a team outing. We work hard and play hard, and it's been really enjoyable."

"But it's really been an enjoyable experience just to get out as new parents. Still her and I connect and have fun, and it's really just been a magical weekend, and it was fun to kind of top it off by recording our episode out here at the party house with Patrón," Viall added.

As for how they managed to bring their baby daughter out to the festival, Viall said the couple had a few extra hands on deck.

"Honestly, have a friend like Patrón, who makes the whole experience enjoyable," the proud dad shared. "Obviously, we were very lucky to have Natalie's mom, River's grandma, who's single and retired and loves being a grandma."

"And it's always great to know that she's in good hands when we step out without our daughter, but we're always anxious to get back."

While Viall still has some time before finding out if he's going to be a strict parent or not, the podcast host said he knows that he and Joy are "going to be a team."

"I think it's our job to make our children feel loved, and also that it's my job to make sure that our daughter knows how to make decisions for herself," he said. "I want to be by her side as much as I can, but I won't always have that opportunity."

"So, there'll be some tough lessons, I'm sure, but I'm just there to support our daughter in any way we can and help her make good decisions for herself."
