Nick Saban is a fascinating individual.

A year ago, the Alabama football coach said he was unaware that Nov. 8, 2016, was a presidential election day. On Nov. 8, 2017, he referenced the television show “The Good Doctor” when discussing cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick’s hamstring injury.

Fitzpatrick was clearly hobbled during Saturday night’s game vs. LSU and tried to play through the injury. He wasn’t too successful and missed much of Alabama’s 24-10 win after he went down following an LSU player’s attempt to hurdle him.

Saban was asked about Fitzpatrick on Wednesday. Here’s what he had to say.

“I’m not a doctor, and one of the most difficult things to do as a coach is to coach injured players because you ask me if I think he’s close to full health,” Saban said via BamaInsider.com. “I mean, again, have you seen that series on TV called ‘The Good Doctor’ where that guy is really, really smart and he figures out things that nobody else can figure out? I’m not there, if I was I’d be working in that hospital probably.”

The Good Doctor is in its first season, which means the series premiere happened during the 2017 Alabama season. Meanwhile, Saban was so immersed last year during football season that he claims to not have known when the presidential election was. And he absolutely did not care in August about the solar eclipse. After all, Alabama was prepping to play Florida State.

But he knows what The Good Doctor is. Perhaps we now know what Saban watches at home when he’s not actively worrying about football.
