Nick Lachey says his stint on 'DWTS' wasn't 'enjoyable': 'I never felt more uncomfortable'

Nick Lachey's days on "Dancing With the Stars" were not his favorite.

"That was one of those things – I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I checked it off the list, and I can look back and say, ‘I have no regrets,’ (but) it was not one of the fonder moments in my life," Lachey told Us Weekly Wednesday.

In 2017, Lachey competed with pro partner Peta Murgatroyd on the 25th season, alongside wife Vanessa Lachey and pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Murgatroyd's husband).

Despite being a member of the popular boy band 98 Degrees, Lachey admitted that he doesn’t like dancing, adding that he probably "shouldn’t have done it to begin with."

"I didn’t want that to be the reason I was afraid of doing something. But yeah, it just wasn’t enjoyable to me, honestly," Lachey said. "If you enjoy dancing, it’s a great time. But for me it was just like, man, I never felt more uncomfortable in my life than being out there being judged. … So it was a hard process."

Lachey was sent packing during Week 6 of the competition, finishing in ninth place, but it is not for lack of trying.

"It’s frustrating when you put a huge amount of effort into something and you’re not seeing the results. You’re not seeing it translate into positive scores," he said. "Finally, I just told Peta, I was like, 'There’s nothing else I can (do). … I’m leaving it all out there. And if it’s not enough, then so be it.’ And I was perfectly comfortable with leaving the show, because I knew I had no chance to go any further."

Vanessa was sent home the following week during a double elimination. Actor Jordan Fisher went on to win the Mirrorball Trophy with partner Lindsay Arnold.

Lachey's experience on the dancing show differs greatly from his brother and former band mate Drew Lachey, who won the second season of "Dancing With the Stars" with partner Cheryl Burke in 2006.

Season 28 – featuring former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, "Bachelorette" star Hannah Brown and former NBA player Lamar Odom – premiered Monday on ABC.
