Jersey knows Jersey.

Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers wants to play Bruce Springsteen in a biopic movie. Both are from New Jersey.

“Growing up in New Jersey, Bruce obviously has a special place in my heart and my creative life,” said Nick Jonas in an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe on Tuesday. “And it is a dream of mine — and I'll just go ahead and say it, hoping that it gets to the right ears — but it's a dream of mine to play him in a movie one day and tell his story in some way that would be honoring to him and that he could be involved with. Hopefully that could happen.”

If there's currently a Springsteen biopic in the works, it hasn't been made public.

“I could only hope to have a career as lengthy as his and as important as his has been to people,” Jonas said. “And that was the thing that really stood out to me after going to a show is just, he's been a champion for his fans his entire career and you see it at the shows. It's about them. Every moment’s about them — them having the best experience, best night of their week, their life, their year, whatever.

“Me and the brothers kind of said that about our shows. It's like, we always want to make sure that our artistic vision comes through and that we're saying what we want to say, but we also want this to be the best night of our fans' week or month or year. So we try to bring that same energy and that's all thanks to Bruce's model.”

The Jonas Brothers celebrated their Jersey-ness in their 2019 homecoming show at the Prudential Center in Newark.

“We grew up not too far from here. Our first show ever was in a church auditorium in Franklin Lakes,” said Nick Jonas to the roaring crowd during a break in the music. “It's come a long way since that small auditorium. You know, there’s something about this state as a whole. There's something that shapes you. As artists it was a crucial part of our story.”

“It's sort of like a secret club. I don’t know if it’s the abundance of diners or malls or bowling alleys or what. People from Jersey are proud as (blank).”

The Jonas Brothers, originally Disney pop stars, staged a comeback in 2019 with two hit singles, “Sucker” and “Only Human,” from their album, “Happiness Begins.”

Nick Jonas, currently a coach on NBC's “The Voice,” hosted “Saturday Night Live” on Feb. 27 and performed his single, “Spaceman.” He's married to actress Priyanka Chopra.

Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band released the hit album “Letter to You” in October. The Boss told his life story on stage in “Springsteen on Broadway” and the memoir, “Born to Run.”
