Nick Jonas as Fraternity Bro Uneasy About Hazing Plans in 'Goat' Exclusive Clip
A vulnerable college freshman (Ben Schnetzer) decides to pledge his older brother’s (Nick Jonas) fraternity —but he might think twice if he knew the extreme hazing planned for initiation in Goat, director Andrew Neel’s no-holds-barred indictment of extreme alcohol- and humiliation-fueled college campus rituals. As seen in a new clip (watch it above), debuting exclusively at Yahoo Movies, Jonas’s character finds himself uneasy about what he senses his frat brothers have in mind when his flesh-and-blood sibling and fellow pledges arrive.

In the scene, Jonas’s Brett realizes what he thought was a joke about procuring a live goat for the event turns out actually to be happening. It’s a small but telling moment in the film, which focuses most heavily on Schnetzer’s Brad, who wants to join the frat to live up to his brother’s expectations — as well as to come to grips with a brutal, pre-college assault that left him feeling weak and alone — only to learn that perhaps his new “friends” don’t actually have his back.
Co-written by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Our Brand is Crisis), and produced by James Franco — who has a small role as a former frat “king” desperate to relive his glory days — Goat pulls no punches in eviscerating out-of-control hazing on college campuses. The film debuts in select theaters and will be available on Digital and VOD this Friday, Sept. 23.
