Bobbie Jean Carter will be laid to rest in her home state of Florida, a Carter family source confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

Multiple sources previously told PEOPLE the younger sister of Nick Carter died on Saturday at age 41, and that the family believes she went into cardiac arrest at home. (Further details of what led up to her death remain unclear.)

The family insider adds that Bobbie Jean's 8-year-old daughter Bella is currently in the care of her grandmother Jane, who paid tribute to her late daughter on Saturday in a statement to TMZ.

"I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean, and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time," said the matriarch, referring to the deaths of her son Aaron, who died at 34 in November 2022, and daughter Leslie, who died in 2012.

"However deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater," Jane continued. "So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious 8-year-old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother."

Bobbie Jean previously appeared in the Carter family's reality TV series House of Carters (which aired in 2006), but reportedly struggled in the following years with substance abuse issues.

On Christmas Eve Bobbie Jean's younger sister Angel Carter Conrad paid tribute to her late sibling, remembering her "great sense of humor" and "lively spirit."

"Growing up, I was your baby, and you were my best friend," Angel wrote on Instagram. "Life wasn't fair to you, that I know. Sometimes, it feels like you didn't have a shot, no matter what."

Angel also pointed to the "trauma, pain, and suffering" she and her siblings faced as children. "I know why Leslie, Aaron, and now you ended up in the circumstances that you did," she continued. "I share that pain we experienced during our childhood and I'm sorry you didn't have an opportunity for a better life."

"The generational dysfunction stops now," wrote Angel, directing her followers to On Our Sleeves, an organization that offers free expert-created mental health resources to children. "I love you BJ, you're free now."
