'Backstreet Boys' star Nick Carter is being sued by a female singer who claims he drugged and sexually assaulted inside his home.

According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, a woman named Melissa Schuman is suing the boy bander claiming he forced himself on her after drugging her with roofies. In the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, the woman details a brutal account of a night where she claims Carter drugged and raped her inside his apartment.

Schuman is famous in her own right, starring in the famous girl group -- DREAM -- who was signed to P. Diddy's label 'Bad Boy Records.'

In 2003, the singer says she was cast in a teen horror film called 'The Hollow,' and Nick Carter was included in the cast. The incident allegedly occurred after Melissa was eating lunch on set with other cast and crew members, and Carter invited her "to come over to his apartment to hang out and play video games."

After arriving at the apartment, Schuman claims Nick asked her about having an alcoholic drink to which she responded, "She didn't have a lot of experience with drinking, and that she didn't know what she wanted." She claims the 'Backstreet Boys' star "started making drinks for everyone, and he suggested (she) have a drink with cranberry juice."

At the time, Melissa claims "Defendant Carter put some form of flunitrazepam or a similar drug in (her) drink." It should be noted, flunitrazepam is commonly known under its street name, "roofie." At some point, she claims that Nick Carter asked her to come and listen to some new music he was working on -- and they started kissing.

"At 18 years old, she felt self-conscious, intimidated, and sexually inexperienced; she had only ever kissed one other boy. Carter knew that she was a virgin and that she held to religious, conservative Christian values," the lawsuit states.

It continues, "Against her will, Defendant Carter took (Melissa) to the bedroom, pushed her onto a twin bed, and climbed on top of her. Again and again, she said NO! She told him over and over that she was a virgin, that she was saving herself for her future husband, and that she did not want to have sex. Defendant Carter continued to force himself on her, whispering in her ear that he could be her husband. She could not get away from him, he was too heavy. Defendant Carter forced vaginal penetration of (Melissa.) She went limp and disassociated. After he finished, Defendant got up off the bed, at which time, she turned her body to the side and curled into a fetal position.

Adding, "Despite having a small amount of alcohol, she passed out."

Shockingly, Schuman claims that as a result of sexual assault Carter infected her with the human papillomavirus (commonly known as HPV), a sexually transmitted infection for which there is currently no cure. HPV is known to cause health problems such as genital warts and cervical cancer.

It should be noted, Schuman first went public with her allegations several years ago -- by writing about the encounter on her personal blog. Now, she claims in the lawsuit that "Carter has engaged in a similar pattern of sexual abuse with other young women and minors."

This isn't the first time Nick Carter has been sued for sexual assault. Last year, the singer was sued by a woman named Shannon “Shay” Ruth, who claimed Carter picked her from a group of women seeking autographs after a concert in Tacoma. She says he then brought her aboard the bus, gave her an alcoholic drink called “VIP juice” and repeatedly assaulted her.

According to news reports, in September 2018, prosecutors in Los Angeles chose not to pursue sexual assault charges against Nick because the statute of limitations had expired.

Nick's lawyer issued a statement on the allegations, saying, "Melissa Schuman has been peddling this tale for many years, but her allegation was false when she first made it back in 2017 - and it still is. A judge in Nevada recently ruled, after reviewing the extensive evidence we laid out, that there are strong grounds for Nick Carter to proceed with his lawsuit against Ms. Schuman for plotting to damage, defame and extort Nick, his associates, his friends, and his family. In light of our progress in Nevada, this kind of response is at once both predictable and pathetic. But this PR stunt won’t shake Nick from his determination to hold Ms. Schuman and her co-conspirators to account for the immeasurable pain and suffering their extortionate conduct has caused."
