Bobbie Jean Carter, the sister of pop stars Nick and Aaron Carter, died Saturday morning in Florida, although her cause of death is currently unknown.

“I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time,” her mother, Jane Carter, told TMZ. “When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private.”

Bobbie Jean’s death comes a little over a year after her younger brother Aaron, a former child star, was found dead in his bathtub in November 2022.

Autopsy reports ruled Aaron, 34, had died from accidental drowning due to the effects of alprazolam (commonly referred to as Xanax) and difluoroethane (aerosol propellant found in spray cans).

The Carters also lost their other sister, Leslie, to an overdose in 2012.

Bobbie Jean, known to friends and family as BJ, also struggled with drug abuse and addiction well into her adult life, and faced legal troubles as recently as this past June.

She had played a role in the family’s music business during the peak of her brothers’ careers and worked as a wardrobe stylist and makeup artist for Aaron in the early 2000s.

Despite appearing on the E! reality TV show “House of Carters” in the 2006, Bobbie Jean steered clear of the spotlight in later years, choosing to live a relatively private life.

She is survived by her 8-year-old daughter, Bella.

Nick and Angel now remain the only surviving Carter siblings, alongside half-siblings and step-siblings.
