Nicholas Galitzine is opening up about how he manages the extra attention that comes with his more recent rise in fame.

The actor, who has found stardom in recent years with his roles in 2022’s Purple Hearts, 2023’s Red, White & Royal Blue and now, Prime Video’s The Idea of You, told IndieWire that it’s “all about setting boundaries.”

“I have my non-negotiables, my family, my loved ones, my friends. I always try and carve out time for them,” he explained. “I’m not really engaged with the more toxic parts of Hollywood that I think do exist out there. And none of my friends who are in the industry are as well.”

The Bottoms actor added that he tries to focus on why he wanted to become an actor initially, noting that he loves “the job for what it is, which is a creative endeavor.”

“Then otherwise, my life is just incredibly normal, and I have my things that I like doing,” he said. “I like walking around. I like exploring. I love nature. I love going out to restaurants and stuff. And so maybe I’m speaking from a point of naivety, but I’ve managed to maintain that till this day, and I hope I can continue to create a space for myself where I’m still able to do those things that I feel so passionately about.”

His latest movie, The Idea of You, where he stars opposite Anne Hathaway, follows Solène, a 40-year-old single mother who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of a popular boy band. The Michael Showalter-directed movie is currently playing on Prime Video.

As for what he hopes to do next in Hollywood, Galitzine also told IndieWire that he would like to see himself involved with a project in the action space genre, as well as sci-fi fantasy, a Western and more comedies.

“Really, my tastes are very varied, which is exciting,” the Mary & George actor said. “And I think it’s certainly an approach I’ve kind of taken in the last couple of years towards my work is really trying to find the light and shade of what I’m capable of.”
