Nicholas Galitzine has been one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood over the past year, continuously appearing in films and shows that the internet can't stop talking about.

The 29-year-old, who made his acting debut in 2014, first captured fans' attention when he landed a breakout role opposite Camila Cabello in the 2021 adaptation of "Cinderella." He played Prince Robert in the musical flick.

The following year he appeared in the Netflix romance "Purple Hearts," which took over the internet shortly after its release.

Since then, he has starred in the satirical comedy "Bottoms" with Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott. He also took on another princely role in "Red, White & Royal Blue," an adaptation of the popular book of the same name.

He now co-stars in the miniseries "Mary & George" with Julianne Moore.

Fans will next see him in the highly-anticipated rom-com "The Idea of You" with Anne Hathaway, out on Prime Video May 2. In the movie, Galitzine portrays the lead singer of a beloved boy band that Hathaway's character, a 40-year-old divorcée, falls for.

Ahead of the movie's release, get to know Hollywood's newest leading man and what he has said about his career so far.

Who is Nicholas Galitzine?

Galitzine was born in London, England, on Sept. 29, 1994, making him a Libra. Before "Cinderella" and Purple Hearts," he popped up in several other flicks, including "High Strung" and "Handsome Devil" in 2016 and “The Beat Beneath My Feet” in 2014.

In 2015, the actor was named to Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow list, which showcases emerging young actors from across the United Kingdom.

Screen International wrote that Galitzine received “rave reviews” at the Berlin Film Festival in 2015 for his performance in “The Beat Beneath My Feet.”

In 2019, he also played a starring role in Netflix's ominous series "Chambers," where he appeared alongside Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn. He later reunited with Thurman in "Red, White & Royal Blue."

When "Purple Hearts" arrived in 2022, the film faced some backlash. Galitzine made sure to defend director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum to critics.

When confronted with a misogynistic question regarding “Purple Hearts,” which is set against a backdrop of the military, being directed by a woman, Galitzine explained why Rosenbaum was perfect for the role

“Look, (director) Liz ... The fact that she’s a woman is immaterial to the fact that she wanted to pursue a story that was honest and was real. It very much helped, the fact that she was a woman. I love working with female directors. I think I’ve actually worked more with female directors than male directors," he replied.

He continued, “The dynamic she created was never oppressive or, ‘This is the way we’re doing it.' It was super collaborative. She and I and Sofia (Carson) all had this curiosity to explore, particularly the world of the military and what that’s like for a young man and the young woman who’s in love with this young man.”

He pursued acting over sports

Galitzine described himself as being “sports crazy” before pursuing acting.

After injuries began to rack up, Galitzine told WWD in September 2021, he "slowly started to fall out of love with (sports)."

He added, "And life has this really funny way of, I think, opening one door when another closes."

What he has said about his rising stardom

While filming "Bottoms" in September 2022, Galitzine spoke to TODAY.com about his on-set experience and being a highly sought-after actor.

He described the film as a “fever dream experience,” as he’s “really wanted to work on a comedy before.”

“For the first time in my career, it was a very interesting thing of having to sort of juggle a few characters because obviously you’re doing prep for these other movies while you’re shooting something else,” Galitzine explained. “So you kind of have this weird juggling act of personalities in your head.”

What has Nicholas Galitzine said about 'The Idea of You'?

Galitzine recently was a guest on the "Just for Variety" podcast and revealed his favorite scene from "The Idea of You": the moment when he dances for Hathaway in boxer briefs.

He said on the podcast that the scene made him think of Tom Cruise's unforgettable lip-sync performance in "Risky Business."

"That was one of the references in my head," the actor shared. "I think that’s my favorite scene actually in (‘The Idea of You’) because I think so much about what is talked about with this movie is obviously the more intimate scenes, but really I think the most powerful expression of love is the aftercare in a way and the connection after."

Galitzine also said he was inspired by BTS and Backstreet Boys for the onstage scenes.

"I always reiterate: I am not a dancer. I tried my best over having a few weeks of rehearsal, but these are skills that are honed for the majority of people’s lives. And my boy band members are all professional dancers. So I said, ‘Listen, you old s---s, you better not make me look bad, OK?’” he joked.
