Nicolas Cage To Star In Sci-Fi Action Pic ‘The Humanity Bureau’

Nicolas Cage has been set to star in The Humanity Bureau, an action/sci-fi film to be directed by Rob King (Something More) from a script by Dave Schultz. Shooting is set to begin this week in British Columbia. Minds Eye Entertainment has domestic rights and VMI Worldwide international rights and are producing with Bridgegate Pictures.

The pic marks the second title in a six-picture slate deal between Minds Eye, VMI and Bridgegate following Wesley Snipes-starrer The Recall which as sold this year at AFM.

Sarah Lind, Jakob Davies and Hugh Dillon co-star in the pic, which is set in the year 2030 when global warming has wreaked havoc in parts of the American Midwest. In its attempt to take hold of the economic recession, a government agency called The Humanity Bureau exiles members of society deemed unproductive and banishes them to a colony known as New Eden. An ambitious and impartial caseworker (Cage) investigates a case appealed by a single mother (Lind) and her son (Davies). Knowing the unjust fate of the innocent boy, Kross sets off to save their lives and expose the truth about The Humanity Bureau’s secrets once.

Cage is repped by CAA, Link Entertainment and Bloom, Hergott.
