Nia Long has called out Ime Udoka’s alleged mistress and the Boston Celtics organization for their handling of her ex-fiancée Ime Udoka’s reported affair with Kathleen Lynch.

On Tuesday (Sept. 26), the veteran actress took to social media to blast the Celtics and Lynch, posting a video of a Black woman lecturing two Caucasian woman about being “unmoved by white tears.”

In the caption of the post, Long asked “Where was this level of awareness a year ago @celtics ???” before hash-tagging the name of Udoka’s alleged mistress and former Celtics coworker. The post marked the first public instance in which the Brooklyn, N.Y. native mentioned Lynch by name.

The clip, which was taken from a March 2022 episode of author Glennon Doyle’s We Can Do Hard Things podcast, teacher, author, activist, and cultural-creative Dr. Yaba Blay speaks with Doyle and a cohost about the lack of empathy shown for Black women in comparison to white women.

“Most of us are unmoved by White tears because we don’t actually think they’re real,” Blay said. “It’s a performance. It’s a switch that you turn on because you know that we have been socialized to see you as more human and of more value. So whatever it is you think and whatever it is you feel, we are supposed to respond to it. Y’all don’t respond to Black women crying the same way. Nobody does… nobody does.”

She continued adding, “The minute a white woman cries, the world has to stop. ‘Oh, my God, what’s wrong with you baby.’ Black woman cry, we can be rolling around on the ground screaming and you are unmoved because you have been socialized to not see us as human beings. Our tears don’t matter to you, but a white woman? And y’all know that sh*t and that’s why I’m not here for the fragility. You know that. And so you very deliberately turn the shit on as a way to avoid accountability.”

Long’s former fiancée, Udoka, was suspended by the Boston Celtics after it was revealed he was involved in an affair with a Celtics staffer, alleged to be Lynch. After news of Udoka’s infidelity went public, Long announced that she had broken off their engagement and voiced her displeasure with both Udoka and the Celtics, calling the latter “disappointing.”
