Former NFL star Terrell Owens was struck by a car in Calabasas on Monday night, PEOPLE can confirm.

Owens, 49, was playing basketball at a local court in the area when a disagreement between the former NFL star and an unidentified man began, according to a representative for the Malibu Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

Owens was struck by the man's vehicle, but no injuries were reported, according to law enforcement, who couldn't confirm whether or not Owens, who previously played for teams including the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys, was still at the scene when the report was taken.

It remains unclear how many people were involved in the incident, police said, and an investigation remains ongoing as of Tuesday morning. TMZ was the first to report the news.

PEOPLE has reached out to Owens's management team for comment.

In November, the former wide receiver was seen punching a man inside a CVS in Inglewood, California in a video obtained by TMZ Sports at the time.

In the footage, Owens is seen fighting with a shirtless man outside of the store on Saturday night. At one point, Owens knocked the man to the ground with a punch to the face.

The 48-year-old told the outlet that he was speaking to a fan at the store when they were approached by the man he was later filmed fighting. The man was aggressive, according to witnesses, and threatened to fight Owens and the fan outside.

Witnesses told TMZ at the time that Owens attempted to quell the situation before the man attacked him once they left the store. Owens continued to speak to the man for more than a minute after their fight, the video shows.

"I can't believe we're seeing this s—," a witness is heard saying in the video before Owens returns to his vehicle. According to TMZ, police were not called following the incident.

Owens ranks third in NFL history in career receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and famously skipped his induction ceremony to host his own celebration.
