What Ryan Lochte Says Leaves TV Anchors in Tears ... of Laughter [Video]

Philadelphia news anchors crack up after an interview with the swimmer/would-be reality star.

A new E! show asks, "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?"

Well, the answer is: Make two veteran TV anchors howl with laughter after an interview.

The Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer appeared on "Good Day Philly" to promote his new reality series, which debuts Sunday night. But in classic Lochte fashion, he stumbled over his words and even paused for five or so seconds (an eternity in live television).

When anchor Mike Jerrick asked what kind of line a woman could use on him, Lochte fell completely silent. Then, anchor Sheinelle Jones prompted him to talk about balancing partying with training, and Lochte dropped one of his sage pieces of advice: "My philosophy is if you're a man at night, you've got to be a man in the morning."

After the awkward interview, Lochte's satellite feed cuts off, and Jerrick and Jones began cracking up. Jones doubled over with laughter and had to wipe away tears. An amused Jerrick, meanwhile, wondered, "Seriously, how are they going to get enough material [for a whole season]?"

"We are so going to get in trouble!" Jones exclaimed.

Lochte fared a little better today on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," keeping to safe topics like the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and his rival, Michael Phelps.

"He told everyone that he's done swimming. He's done with the sport. I don't believe him," Lochte said.

To the audience's delight, DeGeneres flashed a few photos of Lochte wearing nothing but a barely there Speedo. He's comfortable with baring his skin, though he said, "I also like getting all dressed up -- looking really sharp."

He could have the best of both worlds with his sexy present from the host -- a white shirt with a see-through panel in the front!

During his whirlwind press tour, Lochte has said he is still a swimmer more than anything, though he has dabbled in acting with cameos on "90210" and "30 Rock." While he is focused on Rio, he's also looking forward to time in the spotlight, which the new reality show will help with. His role model? A fellow E! star -- Kim Kardashian!

"She started from nothing and now look at her," Lochte tells TVGuide.com. "She can't walk down the street without someone noticing her. You ask anyone in this whole entire world and they're gonna know who Kim Kardashian is. That's what I want. I like it."

Dream big, Lochte ... dream big! Some other choice quotes from recent interviews:

What he looks for in a girlfriend: "She doesn't have to be into sports, but she has to be independent. She can't always be relying on me to make decisions and do things all the time. She has to be able to take care of herself. That's sexy. I need to be like, 'Hey, she's independent.' That'll get you the Lochte Edge."

What the "Lochte Edge" means: "Just having it." [TV Guide]

If the cameras follow him into the bathroom: "There's like ... uh, like a mirror with a sink and then you have the bathroom. So you have to separate those, uh, yeah." ["Good Day Philly"]

What he isn’t good at: "I think anything with sports I'm pretty good at. Because, like, I am an athlete, I've been known to, like -- I can do other sports." [The Daily Beast]

His taste in entertainment: "I'm a movie guy. I have a Doberman who watched TV with me on my couch. Recently we've watched 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'Django Unchained.' There's the chick flick, 'What Women Want,' I like that one too." [AdAge]
