Watch Barbara Walters Interview With Donald Sterling's Estranged Wife (Video)

Shelly Sterling told Barbara Walters that she believes her disgraced husband, Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, is suffering from dementia, in an interview that is beginning to be unveiled — and the network clearly plans to milk the footage for all it is worth.

ABC began the exclusive one-on-one roll-out by airing a piece on Monday's “Good Morning America”; more will follow on ”World News with Diane Sawyer” tonight at 6:30 p.m. Additional footage will air on Tuesday's “GMA,” with the rest of the conversation wrapping up on Tuesday's “World News.”

In the below clip from Monday's “GMA,” Shelly Sterling tells Walters that she will fight to keep her 50 percent ownership, calling Los Angeles Clippers basketball her “passion” and “legacy” to her family.

Shelly Sterling also tells the departing “View” host that she has never known her husband to be a racist, and explains her reasoning for delaying a divorce filing.

“I don't love him. I pity him and I feel sorry for him,” Shelly Sterling said.

Last month, audio tapes were released featuring Clippers team owner Donald Sterling making racist remarks to his companion, V. Stiviano. Since then, the businessman has been banned for the NBA for life, fined $2.5 million and is facing a possible ousting from team ownership.
