Viggo Mortensen Starrer ‘Captain Fantastic’ Adds Cast Of Youngsters

EXCLUSIVE: Six young actors have joined Viggo Mortensen in Captain Fantastic, the drama project about an idealistic father who returns to society from living off the grid for a decade in the Pacific Northwest with his children. A worldwide search was undertaken to cast Mortensen’s brood, and Scottish BAFTA winner George Mackay (How I Live Now, For Those In Peril), Annalise Basso (Oculus, The Red Road), Samantha Isler (NBC’s Sean Saves The World), Aussie Nicholas Hamilton (Strangerland), Shree Crooks (Extant, The New Normal), and newcomer Charlie Shotwell landed the roles. Filming is scheduled to begin in July.

Meanwhile, Shivani Rawat and Nimitt Mankad’s ShivHans Pictures has come aboard to finance and produce the drama with Lynette Howell and Jamie Patricof’s Electric City Entertainment. Matt Ross is directing the picture, which he developed with Electric City after the shingle produced his debut film 28 Hotel Rooms. Rawat, Mankad, Howell, and Patricof are producers, and ShivHans’ Monica Levinson is exec producing.

Ross is repped by WME and Framework Entertainment, Mortensen by Principato Young and Rawlins Company, MacKay by UTA and Gordon and French, Basso by Coast to Coast and Industry Entertainment, Isler by Coast to Coast and Protege Entertainment, Hamilton by Catherine Poulton Management, Crooks by Coast to Coast and Anonymous Content, and Shotwell by Coast to Coast and Concrete Management. WME Global is repping domestic rights. Barry Littman of Hansen Jacobson negotiated the deal on behalf of Electric City with Stephen Dembitzer of Dembitzer & Dembitzer for ShivHans.
