We miss the Ponds already.

Doctor Who is back and gearing up to bid a Pond farewell to its companions in their five final episodes, beginning with the Season 7 premiere, "Asylum of the Daleks," on Saturday at 9/8c on BBC America.

In the video below, star Matt Smith teases, "Fans can expect a gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching time saying goodbye to the Ponds. But also we've got dinosaurs, we've got Daleks, we've got Weeping Angels, we've got New York. I mean, it feels in scale as big and bold as it ever has."

Smith began his tenure as the eleventh incarnation of The Doctor at the same time that Karen Gillan was introduced as new companion Amy Pond in episode "The Eleventh Hour." Her boyfriend and eventual husband Rory (Arthur Darvill) later joined as a second companion. The first five episodes of the season will be devoted to the Ponds' final adventures with The Doctor before making way for the new companion to be played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.

"As we near toward the end of Amy and Rory's time, it becomes very sad hopefully," says Smith. "Go back and revisit 'The Eleventh Hour' and study it closely -- it's all I will say."
