TVLine Items: Dirk Gently Renewed, Showtime's Twin Peaks Binge and More

BBC America is keeping things weird: Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency will return for a second season.

The network announced Monday it’s renewing the surreal mystery series, which stars Samuel Barnett as the titular detective and Elijah Wood as his reluctant sidekick. Dirk‘s freshman season wraps up Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9/8c.

* Showtime will make the first two seasons of the cult ’90s hit Twin Peaks available for binge-watching starting Monday, Dec. 26, via its streaming service, on-demand and the Showtime Anytime app. This will serve as a warm-up for the network’s much-anticipated Twin Peaks revival, debuting next year.

* VH1 has renewed Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party for a second season, the network announced Monday. The talk show, which features lifestyle icon Martha Stewart and hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg hosting a dinner party for their celebrity friends, is currently airing its freshman season Mondays at 10/9c.

* Anil Kapoor (24) has joined the cast of Amazon’s original pilot based on The Book of Strange New Things, the sci-fi novel by Michel Faber. Kapoor will play Vikram Danesh, the head of a base on the planet Oasis.

* Netflix has released the trailer for the original film Barry (premiering Friday, Dec. 16), about the young life of President Barack Obama:
