The Office‘s Ryan and Kelly are reuniting. On a different show. As different characters.
B.J. Novak has been tapped to romance real-life pal Mindy Kaling during an upcoming arc on The Mindy Project, Vulture reports.
He drops by the Fox comedy as Jamie, a Latin professor who bonds with our leading lady over the dying language. Eva Amurri (Californication) also appears in the installments, playing a friend of the scholar.
Novak, who helped executive-produce the Mindy Project pilot, serves as a consulting producer on the series.

• Bravo is getting into the scripted series game — and Life Unexpected creator Liz Tigelaar is spearheading the movement. The cabler ordered two drama pilots Tuesday. The first is Tigelaar’s project, The Joneses, which is based on the 2009 film of the same name. The second, Rita, is from Grey’s Anatomy EP Krista Vernoff and is an adaptation of a Danish series about an acerbic teacher and mother.
• The Paley Center for Media has announced a partial lineup for its 30th annual PaleyFest. Honorees thus far include The Newsroom, Revolution and Once Upon a Time. The full schedule for the event, which will take place March 1-15 in Beverly Hills, will be announced Jan. 9.
• Game of Thrones alum Sean Bean has replaced Brendan Fraser in TNT’s Legends, a drama pilot centering on an undercover agent (Bean) who has the ability to transform himself into a different person with each new job.
• Supermodel-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker will guest-star in an upcoming episode of New Girl, per The Hollywood Reporter, playing a woman who catches the eye of Nick, Winston and Schmidt.
• Elizabeth Banks is returning to Modern Family this season as Cam and Mitch’s hard-partying pal, EW.com reports.
• Style Network has given the green light to Styled to Rock, a fashion design competition exec-produced by and starring Rihanna.
• Discovery Channel has set a Jan. 8, 2013 premiere for Africa, a seven-part series from the documentary team behind Life.
• The documentary Showrunners has unveiled a new trailer to coincide with the launch of its Kickstarter campaign. Among the big name producers/writers participating in the project are Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly), J.J. Abrams (Alias, Felicity), Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory), Hart Hanson (Bones), Damon Lindelof (Lost), Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy), Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and countless others.
