With its return to CBS after a week exclusively on the NFL Network, the ever-moving Thursday Night Football topped broadcast primetime.
Still, the Thursday night matchup was down significantly from the comparable night last year. With a 6.7 overnight rating among households, the Cardinals-49ers game was off roughly 20 percent from 2015.
ABC led the non-sporting crowd with a steady episode of Grey's Anatomy. The drama posted a live-plus-same-day score of a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49. The network's other offerings for the night, Notorious (1.0 adults) and How to Get Away With Murder (1.4 adults), were steady with last Thursday.
On NBC, The Good Place inched up to a 1.4 rating in the key demo after a steady Superstore (1.3 adults). Chicago Med (1.3 adults) and The Blacklist (1.2 adults) also held from a week ago.
Thursday's stability streak extended to Fox, where Rosewood (0.9 adults) and Pitch (1.0 adults) both held. Say what you want about the lackluster showings from freshmen Pitch and Notorious, at least they've retained their same-day premiere scores over the first three weeks of the season.
iHeartradio Music Festival returned to the CW with a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 1 million viewers.
