TV Ratings: ‘Supergirl’ Lifts The CW With Solid Debut, NBC Wins the Night
NBC won Monday night’s ratings contest, but it’s The CW’s “Supergirl” who deserves the spotlight.
“Supergirl” made its CW debut with a more-than-solid 1.1 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 3 million total viewers. Yes, that’s a far cry from its Season 1 premiere on CBS (3.1, 12.96 million), but it’s not too far off in the demo from its season finale (1.3, 6.1 million).
It’s also a big win for the CW, given the performance last season of critically lauded but little-watched Monday 8 p.m. series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” which hovered around a .3 demo rating by the time its season finale rolled around in April.
CBS had its usual Monday comedy block. “The Big Bang Theory” continues to slowly bleed live viewers with a 3.3 demo rating and 14.1 million on the whole, and “Kevin Can Wait” dipped a few tenths with a 2.1 demo rating and 8.8 million viewers. “2 Broke Girls” returned for its sixth season with an hourlong premiere, averaging 6.4 million total viewers and a 1.7 in the demo, which is up slightly versus its year-ago premiere. “Scorpion” at 10 p.m. came in with a 1.3 and 6.96 million viewers.
Fox’s “Gotham” improved on last week’s series-low to a 1.1 in the demo and 3.4 million total viewers, while “Lucifer” held steady with a 1.1 demo rating and 3.71 million viewers.
On NBC, “The Voice” was its usual high-rated self, with a 2.9 in the demo and 11.2 million total viewers. The second episode of time-travel drama “Timeless” came in at a 1.5 in the demo, losing four-tenths of the premiere’s 18-49 audience, and 6.5 million viewers.
ABC’s “Conviction” continues to not convince a whole lot of 18-49 viewers to tune in at 10 p.m., dropping a tenth to a .9 in the demo and 4.65 million viewers. “Dancing With the Stars” is holding up a little better, holding steady with a 1.6 in the demo from 8-10 p.m. and 10.45 million viewers.
