Empire rebounded on Wednesday, again winning the night among adults 18-49 and rising to a 3.1 rating in the key demo.
Last week, the night after the presidential election, Empire clocked a series low in live-plus-same-day returns - a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49. The Fox drama's improvement was the night's only noticeable growth. The rest of the broadcast networks saw no such improvement, either holding steady or dipping. Fox rounded out the night with a steady Lethal Weapon (1.7 adults) at 8 p.m.
The Goldbergs was the only ABC comedy off from last week's score. Down just two-tenths of a point to a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49, it led into steady episodes of Speechless (1.6 adults) and Modern Family (2.2 adults) and an even episode of Black-ish (1.6 adults). Designated Survivor held even with a 1.2 rating in the key demo.
On CBS, Survivor (1.8 adults), Criminal Minds (1.4 adults) and Code Black (0.9 adults) were all steady. On NBC, an even Blindspot was followed by back-to-back episodes of Chicago PD. The drama was down to a 1.1 rating in the key demo at 9 p.m. but improved to its previous week's score with a 1.3 rating at 10 o'clock.
Arrow (0.7 adults) and Frequency (0.3 adults) were flat on The CW.
