TV News Roundup: Andy Richter to Guest Star on ‘Life in Pieces’

In today’s TV news roundup, Andy Richter will guest star on the CBS family comedy “Life in Pieces,” Michael Mosley joins the cast of Netflix’s “Ozark” and Turner Studios gets a new general manager.

CASTING

Andy Richter will guest star on CBS’s “Life in Pieces,” Variety has learned exclusively. Known as Conan O’Brien’s sidekick, the actor and comedian will appear in one episode, though the airdate has not been set (“Life in Pieces” airs at 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays). Richter will play Julius Black, a high school musical director who is described as a buttoned-down theater enthusiast, and refuses to cast Samantha (Holly Barret) in the current school musical, much to Heather’s (Betsy Brandt) dismay. Richter is repped by Brillstein Entertainment and United Talent.

Michael Mosley has been cast in a major recurring role in Netflix’s “Ozark,” which stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, Variety has learned exclusively. Mosley — whose credits include “Sirens,” “Longmire” and “Castle” — will play Pastor Mason Young, a charismatic and mysterious preacher who quickly finds himself involved with Marty (Bateman) and Wendy’s (Linney) plan to build a new church. The series follows the married duo and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Mosley is repped by Gersh and Industry Entertainment.

EXECUTIVES

Laura Dames has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager of Turner Studios. As EVP, Dames will oversee all facets of Turner Studios, as well as the next generation production division that supports the entire Turner portfolio on a global scale. She will also be responsible for coordinating cross brand communication and activities surrounding key tent pole events for the company. Dames will continue to report to Lenny Daniels, president of Turner Sports.
