TLC Sets ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Season 2 Summer Return

One day after tiny pageant sensation Alana Thompson’s parents actually tied the knot, TLC has announced that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will be back for a second season this summer. The hit redneck reality series returns July 17 at 9 PM for another cycle. “This summer, get ready to watch the family take part in hijinks like butter rolling, tap dancing lessons and wrestling events,” said TLC in a statement this morning. On Sunday, June “Mama Bear” Shannon and Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson got married in a ceremony where guests were encouraged to attend in full redneck attire but not allowed to bring cameras, according to the invite. The couple’s three daughters, including 7-year old Alana, were in attendance. The wedding will be part of the new season.

The initial 10 episodes of Season 1 of the Authentic Entertainment-produced unscripted series proved a big hit for TLC, averaging 2.4 million viewers. Halloween and Thanksgiving specials in January plus a clip show and Christmas special in February also delivered strong numbers.
