Timeless to Visit 1893 World's Fair, Casts Role of Serial Killer H.H. Holmes

NBC’s Timeless is charting a course for Chicago circa 1893, where the Windy City’s forecast will call for — cue ominous thunderclap — murder.

Indeed, TVLine has learned exclusively that Joel Johnstone has been cast as Dr. Henry Howard Holmes aka H.H. Holmes, who is considered to be one of America’s first documented serial killers. Holmes’ “Murder Castle” (the hotel where he committed myriad murders) plays a central role in Episode 10, when the Time Team finds themselves in Chicago 1893 during The World’s Fair.

As previously reported in my Inside Line column, the same episode will feature an appearance by a yet-to-be-cast young Harry Houdini, who just might help one of the heroes “escape” a threat.

Johnstone’s previous TV credits include Getting On, The Newsroom and Astronaut Wives Club, plus episodes of The Fosters and Agents of SHIELD.

Timeless continues its freshman run this Monday at 10/9, with a trip to the year 1754.
