Colton Haynes may be exiting Teen Wolf.
The actor appeared to address rumors that he would not be returning for the MTV drama’s third season, set to begin shooting Dec. 3, after Us Weekly reported that he would be leaving the show.
“These past few yrs have been the best of my life,” he wrote. “I’m sad that this chapter has ended, but excited for a new one to begin. Thx for the love.”
It is unclear how Haynes’ character, Jackson Whitmore, would be written off the show. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, co-star Dylan O’Brien said that there will be a time lapse in the storyline (“a few months,” he said) between the season two finale and the season three premiere.
“I just saw the first [script,]” he said. “I don’t know what kind of things are coming up, [but] I think they’re gonna be exciting. I think bigger things are crawling into Beacon Hills, there’s kind of a word now about Beacon Hills being a supernatural town.”
On the finale, which aired on Aug. 13, Haynes’ character (the Canima) was killed by werewolves and appeared to be reborn as a wolf.
In an interview with THR following the finale, co-star Tyler Posey joked about Haynes being killed off the show.
“Jeff [Davis] told me the beginning of season three and it’s pretty cool,” he teased Haynes. “Everyone explodes… it’s pretty weird, and Scott’s the only one left.”
“Do I die?” asked Haynes.
“Yeah, of course,” responded Posey, clearly making a joke.

Representatives for Haynes and MTV did not immediately return THR’s request for comment. We will update with a response when they do.
UPDATE: MTV has issued the following statement: "Absolutely no truth that Colton is being pushed out or that he, or any cast member, is being replaced. We love Colton and look forward to his returning with the entire cast for Season 3 of Teen Wolf.”
UPDATE: On Friday, the official Teen Wolf Facebook page posted the following statement confirming Haynes' exit from the series: "We were just as surprised and disappointed as Colton's fans to read out about his decision to leave the show. We want him to return for a third season, as he has for the past two, but if this is his decision we respect that and will wish him all the best. We are excited for what Jeff Davis and producers have in store for our incredible cast in the upcoming third season."
