Taylor Negron, Actor Known For ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High,’ ‘The Last Boy Scout,’ Dies at 57

Taylor Negron, a busy character actor and comedian known for his roles in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “The Last Boy Scout” and dozens of other film and TV shows, died of cancer Saturday. He was 57.

Negron’s death was announced via a 33-second Internet video released by his cousin, Chuck Negron, former member of the pop group Three Dog Night.

Starting in the late 1970s, Taylor Negron logged small but memorable roles in a slew of movies and TV shows, ranging from “Young Doctors in Love” and Rodney Dangerfield’s “Easy Money” to “Falcon Crest” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” More recently he had roles in such TV comedies as Fox’s “Til Death,” HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place.”

Negron was born in Glendale, Calif., to parents of Puerto Rican descent. He broke into television in the late 1970s with roles in the short-lived series series “The Last Resort” and “Detective School.” In 1982, he had bit part as the pizza delivery guy in “Fast Times.” In 1991’s “Last Boy Scout” he played a heavy opposite Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans.

His many other TV guest shots include “Zoey 101,” Reno 911,” “That’s So Raven,” “My Wife and Kids,” “Good vs. Evil” and “Nash Bridges.” He had a recurring role on the domestic comedy “The Hughleys” which ran from 1998-2000 on UPN.

In addition to acting and standup comedy performances, Negron was also a painter who had several exhibitions of his work. Comedians were quick to pay tribute to the thesp on social media.

Survivors include brothers Chuck, Alex and Rene.
