‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Casts Two New Faces

“Stranger Things” has cast two of its new characters for Season 2.

Sadie Sink will play Max, a tomboy with a complicated history and a suspicious streak. Sink was a series regular on NBC’s “American Odyssey” and has guested on fellow Netflix series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” as well as “The Americans.”

Aussie actor Dacre Montgomery, who is donning the red suit in Lionsgate’s upcoming “Power Rangers” film, will play Billy, Max’s older step-brother. Billy is a charismatic Camaro-driving drinker, a classic girlfriend-stealing bad boy. That character description could theoretically mean trouble for Season 1 couple Nancy and Steve.

Speaking of Steve, two Season 1 favorites are also getting a promotion. Joe Keery, who plays Jean-Ralphio lookalike Steve, and Noah Schnapp, who plays young Will Byers, will be series regulars for the second season, indicating they might be around a little more. Last season saw Will suffering from the aftereffects of his extended stay in the Upside Down, a spooky nightmare alternate dimension full of monsters.

Netflix’s 80s-set horror pastiche became something of a phenomenon when it debuted this summer. The next season will bow on the streaming service in 2017, with creators Matt and Ross Duffer promising more information on the Upside Down, a connection between Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) and the absent Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), and one more episode than Season 1.
