Sting Says He Wont Let His Kids Inherit His $300 Million Fortune

It doesn't pay to be Sting's kids.

It doesn't pay to be Sting's kids. The music legend told British publication the Daily Mail that his children won't be getting their hands on any of his money when he dies.

Sting, who grew up poor near the Wallsend shipyards in England, has an estimated net worth of $300 million. Now, he wants his children to have the chance to come up the way he did.

"They have to work. All my kids know that and they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate," Sting said. "Obviously, if they were in trouble I would help them, but I've never really had to do that. They have the work ethic that makes them want to succeed on their own merit."

The 62-year-old musician added that he didn't want to "leave them trust funds that are albatrosses round their necks." Sting has six children--two from his marriage to Irish actress Frances Tomelty, and four from his current marriage to English actress Trudie Styler.

According to The Police frontman, the issue of his inheritance might not come up at all, considering how fast he goes through it. Sting has over 100 people he employs, and said in the interview, "There won't be much money left because we are spending it! We have a lot of commitments. What comes in, we spend, and there isn't much left."

Do you think Sting should leave some money for his children?
