Seth Meyers: 'Chicago President' Offer Still Stands for Trump

Seth Meyers hasn’t forgotten about his Chicago President series idea for Donald Trump. And in the wake of the Republican candidate’s presidential victory Tuesday, Meyers is hoping Trump hasn’t forgotten, either.

“Our offer still stands,” Meyers said on Late Night Wednesday. “Come on! You didn’t think you were going to win this thing either, and I’m guessing right now, you are spinning out.”

Meyers joked that Trump’s Dick Wolf drama — set, naturally, in the Windy City — would now get “a 22-episode order, and we’re giving you the coveted 10 pm-Monday slot, which means you’ll be on right after The Voice.”

In a more serious moment, Meyers lamented Hillary Clinton’s loss but pointed out that “someone’s daughter is out there right now” who’ll be the first woman president of the United States.

“Whoever you are, I hope I live to see your inauguration,” he added, getting choked up. “And I hope my mom does, too.”

Meyers wrapped the bit — which NBC released ahead of Wednesday’s airing — by saying that “democracy is a fantastic thing, even when it doesn’t go your way” and with a promise to the president-elect: “We here at Late Night will be watching you.”
