The series finale of "The Office" will be watched by millions of fans on Thursday night. But creator Ricky Gervais probably won't be one of them.

In fact, the comedian who created the original British series has watched only a few episodes of the American version.

"You know, it wasn't my baby. It was my rights, so I cashed the checks," he says in GQ's June Comedy Issue. "I think it was good, but I didn't have the same emotional attachment to it."

"Now and again I'd watch one on a plane."

While Gervais didn't watch "The Office," it has been highly lucrative for him, "more than anything else probably I've ever done," he notes. "It's the gift that keeps on giving, syndication."

Gervais recently resurrected his "Office" boss, David Brent, in a short sketch for Red Nose Day. Some critics believe he did it to feel popular again after dismal reviews of his newest show, "Derek."
