‘The Odd Couple’ Season 3 Not Getting Back-Order After 13 Episodes

CBS is not ordering additional episodes of the third season of “The Odd Couple,” which will run 13 episodes, Variety has confirmed.

However, the show is not cancelled and will remain in contention for a fourth season, though ratings will likely have to improve for the comedy to score a renewal.

Produced by CBS Television Studios, the multi-camera comedy is averaging a 1.0 Nielsen live-plus-same day rating among adults 18-49 over six episodes in its Monday, 9:30 p.m. time period, making it the lowest rated Monday-night offering for CBS.

While the Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon sitcom is not receiving a back-order, the first two seasons of the show also had 13-episode runs. Seven episodes so far have aired for season three, so the current season will wrap after the next six episodes air.

CBS has a busy midseason slate coming up with new comedy “Superior Donuts,” plus a slew of dramas on deck. Meanwhile, the network’s new comedies — “Kevin Can Wait,” “Man With A Plan” and “The Great Indoors” — all received full ordered for their freshman seasons.
