NFL Star Eddie George to Tackle Broadway Debut in ‘Chicago’
Eddie George, the running back and nine-year veteran of the NFL, will make his Broadway debut in the long-running musical revival “Chicago.”
George, the 1995 Heisman Trophy winner for Ohio State University and a commentator on Fox’s college football coverage, will play the role of slick attorney Billy Flynn for seven weeks, from Jan. 11 to Feb. 28.
George is no stranger to the stage, having appeared in such works in his hometown of Nashville, including Matthew Lopez’s “The Whipping Man” (Nashville Repertory Theatre), Suzan-Lori Parks’ “Topdog/Underdog” (Amun Ra Theatre) and in the title roles of both Othello and Julius Caesar at the Nashville Shakespeare Festival.

He has also appeared in NBC’s “American Dream Builders” and in such films as “Best Man Holiday” and “The Game Plan.”
George spent nine hears in the NFL, helping to lead the Tennessee Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV. He was selected to the Pro Bowl four consecutive years, and finished his career with the Dallas Cowboys under legendary coach Bill Parcells.
“Chicago” currently stars actress and “Dancing with the Stars” winner Rumer Willis as Roxie Hart. Actress and reality TV alum NeNe Leakes will join the production in the role of Matron “Mama” Morton for 4 weeks only, November 23 – December 20, 2015.

With a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, “Chicago” is now the No. 1 longest-running American musical in Broadway history. Director Walter Bobbie’s production won six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival.
