"Four years ago, Neil was an amazing Emmy host and we are excited to have him back," Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum said. "Neil is an extremely gifted and inventive performer, and we look forward to seeing what he has in store this year."

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast by CBS from the Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Sunday, Sept. 22.

Harris, who stars on CBS's sitcom "How I Met Your Mother," has racked up an impressive list of hosting gigs in recent years. In addition to the Tonys and Emmys hosting gigs this year, the actor has hosted the 63rd, 65th ad 66th Annual Tony Awards.

The actor jokingly acknowledged his increasing ubiquity on the awards circuit.

"I couldn't be more honored and excited to be hosting this year's Emmy Awards," Harris cracked. "And what perfect timing – I'll just do the exact same script I'm about to use for the Tonys. 'And the Emmy for Best Revival of a Musical goes to 'Breaking Bad!' See, told you it works."
