Most Creative Dead Killing Yet on ‘Walking Dead’ Winter Premiere

On the winter premiere of The Walking Dead, Rick and company try to convince Hilltop’s leader, Gregory, to join a revolt against the Saviors. The pitch is unsuccessful, so they follow Jesus to a new community: the Kingdom, where they ask for help from King Ezekiel and his gorgeous CGI tiger.

Even though King Ezekiel wrestles with the idea, he ultimately decides against breaking peace with the Saviors and he peaces-out on Rick’s idea. But he offers asylum to Daryl, assuring him that the Saviors don’t set foot inside his walls. Daryl questions how long that will last.

After Butch and Sundance bid their bromantic farewell, Rick and Co. come across a roadblock made out of cars, presumably created by the Saviors. It includes a whole lot of very-hard-to-come-by dynamite strung across a wire cable between two cars. They disarm the explosives and save them, but the situation gets a touch more interesting because a sea of dead heads toward them and the pressure is on to get creative.

Rick’s team hot-wires the cars and drives the cable strung between them like a moving guillotine straight into a herd of dead.

After they cut that population in half, the crew heads back, only to discover Simon on the hunt for Daryl.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC
