Molly Shannon Talks About Worst Audition Ever: I Nearly Quit Acting
Molly Shannon says she nearly quit acting after the worst audition of her life, but thankfully, she just ate her feelings instead — along with an entire chicken.
Shannon told the story from her pre-Saturday Night Live days at The Hollywood Reporter's Sundance lounge on Monday, while promoting her film Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.
"I bumped into a girl before the audition, and she was like, 'Oh my God. It's so nice to see you! Have you gained, like, 100 pounds?' " Shannon said. "And I was like, OK, that is so mean."
Shannon says she bombed the audition and wanted to quit acting forever, but later drowned her sorrows in an entire Gelson's chicken.
