MGM Elevates Michael Brown To EVP Worldwide Marketing

Michael Brown had been MGM‘s EVP Marketing overseeing efforts in global television and home entertainment and now takes the theatrical reins as well with the promotion to EVP Worldwide Marketing. He reports to chairman and CEO Gary Barber. SVP Worldwide Television Marketing Barry Gurstein and VP Communications Kristin Cotich will report to Brown. “I am pleased to be elevating Michael into this position,” Barber said today in the release announcing the promotion. “He’s proven to be a skilled marketer with a keen sense of the global audience. He is an integral part of the company’s leadership.” Brown, who held top marketing posts at New Regency and Marvel before joining MGM in 2007, will get started right away on campaigns for the studio’s upcoming releases inclding Carrie with Sony’s Screen Gems, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug with New Line Cinema and Warner Bros, RoboCop with Columbia Pictures, and Hercules with Paramount. On the TV side, Brown has worked on the launches of History’s Vikings and MTV’s Teen Wolf, and he is managing the launch of Orion TV Productions’ new syndicated courtroom show Paternity Court. His home entertainment efforts include overseeing the 50th anniversary James Bond box set with sales of more than $100M and the release of Skyfall, which has become MGM’s No. 1 Blu-ray release of all time.
