Maggie Simpson's (shockingly) sexy Oscar gowns

What should Maggie wear to the Oscars®?

We told you earlier about the Simpson gang's Oscar nomination for "Maggie Simpson in: The Longest Daycare," which is among the nominees for Best Animated Short Film. But, supposing that baby Maggie were going to attend the awards -- you know, if she were real -- her Springfieldian stylist has come up with three rather suggestive fashion choices for the little yellow one.

The Facebook page for "The Simpsons" features a poll asking fans to vote for their favorite of three Oscar-worthy dresses for Maggie: a black gown with a slit up to here (an obvious homage to or spoof of Angelina Jolie's Atelier Versace gown from last year's Oscars); a tight-fitted red gown with the back cut down to there; or a more modest purple number, which one Facebook fan called "the only one that's not slutty."

Other fan reactions on Facebook: "She's a cartoon ... and she's been on TV for 20+ years ... who cares if the dress is skanky"; "The purple dress I think is the only one that's not sexualized. Not appropriate to put a baby in that context, even if it is animated"; and "This is creepy … she's meant to be a baby."

One fan is judging not on age-appropriateness but on color: "Way too much red already this awards season, please purple."

As of Wednesday afternoon, the red dress was fans' top choice, with 48 percent of the votes, followed by the purple dress with 43 percent of the votes, and the Jolie-ish frock clearly not clicking with 'toon lovers, nabbing just 9 percent of the votes.

What do you think: Is the idea of an Oscar-nominated cartoon preschooler in a sexy, leg-baring gown just a little too creepy? Or should everyone stop freaking out because, as another Facebook commenter put it, "fyi, SHE A CARTOON!"?

"The Simpsons" airs Sundays at 8 PM on Fox and the Oscars telecast airs Sunday, 2/24 at 7 PM on ABC.
