Lady Gaga continued her recent streak of on-point TV appearances with an emotional performance at Sunday’s American Music Awards.

Introduced by her American Horror Story: Hotel co-star Matt Bomer, the artist formerly known as Stefani Germanotta served a barefoot performance of “Million Reasons,” the latest single off her new album Joanne.

Under a sky of stars — which we assume were fake, though we wouldn’t put anything past Gaga — she strummed along to the emotional ballad, all the while fighting back tears.
