Katherine McNamara Books ‘The Maze Runner 2′ & ‘Indiscretion’

Happyland‘s Katherine McNamara has landed a supporting role in 20th Century Fox’s The Maze Runner Chapter II: The Scorch Trials, with two additional sequel options. Plot and character details are being kept under wraps, but we know her character’s name is Sonya. Production begins this month for a September 18 release.

Wes Ball returns to direct the sequel to Fox’s hit The Maze Runner, the dystopian adventure adapted from James Dashner’s YA series that has grossed over $339 million worldwide. Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman are producing.

It’s a busy time for McNamara, who is coming off a starring role in MTV’s Happyland. She also has booked a lead opposite Mira Sorvino, Cary Elwes, Christopher Backus and Neal McDonough in indie feature Indiscretion. Written by Laura Boersma and John Stewart Muller and directed by Muller, the pic centers on Veronica (Sorvino), a politician’s wife who has a torrid affair with a young artist, Victor (Backus). McNamara plays Lizzy, the precocious daughter of Veronica (Sorvino) and Jake (McDonough), who dreams of one day becoming a successful ballet dancer. She too falls for Victor, but is forbidden from seeing him, and is torn between being the good girl she has always been and the woman she hopes to become.

McNamara is repped by CESD, Atlas Artists, and attorneys Marcy Morris and Ryan LeVine.
