Joan Rivers Placed in Medically Induced Coma Following Routine Surgery
The legendary comedienne remains hospitalized following routine procedure.
Joan Rivers continues to remain hospitalized in New York City.
Sources close to Joan tell ET that the legendary comedienne is in a medically induced coma following a routine endoscopy. Not long after the procedure started, she stopped breathing and was then rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Joan's daughter Melissa Rivers flew to New York from Los Angeles on a flight that landed at 7:40 p.m. ET, but airport security informed crews that they snuck her out of an alternate entrance.
"I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother," Melissa said in a statement to ET. "She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
