Jerry Rice's Surprise First Meeting With Calvin Johnson on 'DWTS'
On Monday’s Dancing With the Stars, the contestants were asked to use their most memorable year as inspiration for their routine, and Calvin Johnson chose 2012, the year he broke Jerry Rice’s receiving yards record. Calvin Johnson took his dance partner to the football field to reminisce.
On the dance stage, the two performed a routine that ended with Calvin Johnson catching a football. The person throwing that football was Jerry Rice. It was a surprise switch that seemed to catch Johnson off guard. Jerry Rice is no stranger to the ballroom dancing show; he was a runner-up in the second season.
Later, Erin Andrews interviewed the two former receivers and freaked out at the fact that the two had never met before. They seemed to be fast friends, though. Rice said, “This guy’s doing fantastic. He’s Megatron. He’s the man!”
