Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone Share Details of Friendship Born of a Love of Acting
Jennifer Lawrence. Emma Stone. No, I’m not just ginning up interest by naming trending celebrity names. I bring up J.Law and … EmSto? … because of a recent Vanity Fair piece that highlights their good friendship. If you think about it, it makes sense. They’re both A-list actresses in their 20s who have been in box office hits and critical darlings.
The friendship began thanks to their mutual co-star Woody Harrelson. Harrelson was in The Hunger Games with Lawrence and Zombieland with Stone. Said Lawrence: “[Emma Stone] texted me that she got my number from Woody. I replied, ‘F*** off!’ And we’ve been really good friends ever since.”
So why are they friends? Lawrence said, “I don’t know what I would be without acting. So if there is someone who loves the same thing, it should bring us closer. But it depends on how that person is, and Emma is so normal and lovely. If I wasn’t her biggest fan, I would’ve Tonya Harding’d her in the kneecaps.”
That’s … nice. Happily, the feeling is mutual. In an email to Vanity Fair, Stone confirmed their friendship is strong. “We both really do love each other and care about each other as people, beyond being actors. I support her completely when it comes to work, and I feel the same from her…”
That being said, Stone had to overcome self-doubt at first. She said: “… There was definitely a time early on when I was like OH HEY MY EGO IS GOING NUTS SHE’S SO GREAT AND VIBRANT AND TALENTED I’M SCREWED I’LL NEVER WORK AGAIN GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.”
