ICM Partners Signs Alan Rickman

EXCLUSIVE: ICM Partners has signed Alan Rickman. Based on the harsh reviews I’ve seen on the latest Die Hard, they should have found a way to let his character live in that first installment after Rickman delivered one of the best villain turns in an action movie. He’s been working up a storm anyway, on screen and stage.

On stage, Rickman’s played Mark Antony opposite Helen Mirren’s Cleopatra in the Royal National Theatre’s production of Antony And Cleopatra, and he starred in Yukio Ninagawa’s Tango At The End Of Winter on London’s West End. His stage breakout came in Les Liasons Dangereuses and he most recently was onstage in the Theresa Rebeck play Seminar. Onscreen, Rickman next plays Ronald Reagan in the Lee Daniels-directed The Butler, along with the Patrice Leconte-directed A Promise, Randall Miller’s CBGB, and the Michael Hoffman remake of Gambit that stars Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz. Rickman is booked to direct A Little Chaos, starring opposite Kate Winslet and Matthias Schoenaerts. The film begins principal photography in April.

Rickman leaves WME, another client of Adam Isaacs who shook loose from the agency after Isaacs left to become a manager at The Schiff Company. Rickman’s exit follows that of Keira Knightley, another Schiff client who went to CAA and retained him as manager. Rickman won’t be making that switch, and he continues to be represented in London by Paul Lyon Maris at Independent Talent Group.
