The History Channel is bulking up its "Vikings" cast with two new castings for Season 2.
Alexander Ludwig ("The Hunger Games") will play Bjorn, main character Ragnar Lothbrok's (Travis Fimmel) son. He's described as an "intelligent and bold warrior."
Additionally, Linus Roache ("Law & Order") comes on as Ecbert, King of Wessex, who the network describes as "a man full of strength, knowledge and undisguised ambition."
They join returning actors Fimmel, Katheryn Winnick, George Blagden, Donal Logue, Jessalyn Gilsig, Clive Standen and Gustaf Skarsgard.
During its first season, the period drama averaged 4.3 million total viewers per episode and 1.8 million in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic. It also averaged 2 million viewers in the cable network's key demo, adults 25-54.
Season 2 will begin production this summer and return to History with 10 episodes in 2014.
Created and written by Michael Hirst ("The Tudors," "Elizabeth"), "Vikings" is co-produced by World 2000 and Take 5 Productions.
