How Lindsay Lohan bounced back from being flat broke

What a difference a year – and posing nude – makes. Twelve months ago, during a probation hearing, Lindsay Lohan told a judge that she was so broke, she couldn’t afford to pay for psychological counseling required as part of her probation for a shoplifting offense. But a year later, the former child star’s bank account is back in the black … and it was all touched off by her $1 million nude spread in the January issue of Playboy.

Since then, Lohan, 26, has amassed a fortune, albeit a small one by Hollywood standards, of $2 million, thanks mostly to her $300,000 payday to play Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime made-for-TV movie “Liz and Dick,” $6,480 (scale) to film a sex scene with porn star James Deen in “The Canyons,” and the reported $200,000 she will receive to star in “Scary Movie 5.” The actress has also made some coin with other random ventures, like getting paid $2,000-plus to tweet about companies, including, to her 4 million Twitter followers, and for endorsing the very budget-friendly Jag Jeans, according to TMZ.

Although Lohan is earning money again thanks to a (somewhat) revitalized career, she’s also reverted back to some of the behavior that had her uninsurable to many movie studios in the past. In April, she got into not one, but two fights at the nightclub at L.A.’s Standard Hotel over a two-week span. Two months later, she crashed her rented Porsche into an 18-wheeler while speeding to the set of “Liz and Dick,” even though her contract specified she was only to travel by chauffeur due to her multiple DUIs. A few days after that, an ambulance was called to the set when Lohan could not be roused from a nap. Once she got her Porsche back from the shop in July, she rear-ended another car, and just last week, she was kicked out of West Hollywood club Bootsy Bellows after she crashed the 19th birthday party of Clint Eastwood’s daughter Francesca and began screaming at the reality star that she was a “nobody."

Does it seem to you like Lindsay is making a comeback?
