‘Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ Sets Nov. 4 Fan Event

Peter Jackson (pictured above) will unveil new footage from “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” as part of a worldwide fan event Nov. 4.

The event will also include interviews with cast members including Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace and Luke Evans.

New Line and MGM have organized the celebration, which has will include Jackson and cast members gathering at satellite-linked theaters in Los Angeles, New York, London and Wellington to screen footage and answer questions in front of a live audience.

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will host the event from New York. Richard Armitage, who plays dwarf Thorin Oakenshield, and Bloom, who plays Legolas, are set to appear at that location.

Lilly, who plays an elf named Tauriel, will attend the event in Los Angeles. The London event will include Pace, Evans and Andy Serkis, who portrays Gollum.

Jackson will be at the event in New Zealand.

Fans will also be able to watch the event at theaters in Brussels, Hamburg, Madrid, Mexico City, Miami, Paris, Rome, Sydney and Toronto. The event will also be streamed live online.

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” the second film in Peter’s “Hobbit” trilogy, will be released Dec. 13. “The Hobbit: There And Back Again” had been set to open on Dec. 17, 2014.

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” has grossed over $1 billion worldwide since it opened last Dec. 14.
